Character Name: Libra Turner
Year at Hogwarts: 3rd
House preference: Ravenclaw
Character Personality: Libra always stood out of the crowd. She has a clumsy side of her that is just plain hard to hide. Yet, in class she seems to always know what she is doing and never doubts her own gut and mind. Libra is always fun to hang around with, she likes to be the one starting the conversation and her humor usually helps to do so. Libra was always a kind girl, who its hard not to get along with, but if you are on Libra's bad side, you best to stay clear of her. When Libra wants to find something out, she will do what ever it takes to do so. She was always so curious and was easily distracted when she was in a new place.
Family History: Libra and her family grew up just out side of the suburb, that was just outside of New York City. In her small neighborhood, everyone knew everyone. There was a stream in her backyard that led to a giant forest, where Libra spent most of her time.
Libra's family is hard to explain. She never liked her mother, always yelling at her and abusing her, emotionally. Her mother never approved of her doings, she encouraged Libra to be like everyone else, and go with the crowd, but that only made Libra want to stay away from them even more, she did not want to grow up like her mother.
Libra and her father, on the other hand, were very close. They spent as much time together as possible. Normally by the stream outside, looking for something wandering in the water, or in the forest, exploring, even though they knew about every inch of it. Libra felt that her father was her only will to living, she didn't love nobody else, she didn't like anyone in her family, no one really cared about her, besides her dad. Libra's father encouraged her to follow her heart and just do what your gut tells you. That is how Libra is trusting of her own feeling, maybe not so much everyone else, but she trusts herself, and that was enough for her growing up.
Then, one day, when Libra got home from a terrible day of being picked on and criticized at school, her mother dropped some terrible news on her. Libra's father had died in a car accident on the way home from work in city. The first thing Libra screamed at her mother was "Why couldn't it have been you" and then she ran away. She went deep into the forest, and stayed there, for about 2 weeks, surviving on what she had learned from her father. She was surviving, but all she wanted was death.
When she ventured home, thinking that her mother was sleeping, she came quietly through the back door to get her things, and run away for good. But, the moment that door opened, her mother came running out her, and started screaming yelling. She locked up all doors, bolted Libra's window and door, and never let Libra go outside again.
After about 3 weeks of Libra in dungeon, she got her Hogwarts letter. She did not let her mother see the letter, she just said that she was excepted into an all girls boarding school in Paris, that was the only way Libra's mother would let her leave. That night, she packed up all her things and hid away some food and left. Her mother didn't lock the doors that night because she was so happy that she was finally off her hands and was leaving, well, at least that's the way Libra looked at it.
Libra hasn't spoken to her mother since she had left, and she is happy that she hadn't. Libra is hoping to find a new life, here at Hogwarts, and put her old life behind her.
